Jack J. Nieto, 87, of Louisville, passed away Wednesday Aug. 9, 2017.
He was born in Canton, on Jan. 6, 1930, to the late Manuel and Mary (Balcarcel) Nieto. Jack retired from the Canton Fire Department as a Captain, in 1984. He was a member of the Spanish Men's club of Canton, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the American Legion of Louisville. He was also a member of the Mahoning Road VFW. Jack was a Korean Army Veteran.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Jean Nieto in 2006. Jack is survived by two daughters, Debra (Russell) Garrott and Jackie (Tim) Claugus; a son, Jeff (Mary) Nieto; a brother, Manuel "Tatts" Nieto; six grandchildren, Chad Garrott, Brad (Marcy) Garrott, Kristen Miday, Bryan (Stephanie) Claugus, Shannon (Edward) Bartolec, Heather Nieto; ten great grandchildren, Gage Garrott, Kaden Garrott, Luke and Magdalena Miday, Juliana and Alana Garrott, Madison Claugus, Leah Claugus, Katelyn Claugus, and Blaze Garrott.
Funeral services were held Aug. 13 at Stier-Israel Funeral Home in Louisville, with Pastor Timothy Muse officiating. The Canton Fire Department held a Last Alarm Service in the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.stierisraelfuneralhome.com.
