Lady Hornets defeat Lisbon in five

The Lady Hornets opened up the 2017 volleyball season with a thrilling five-set win over Lisbon David Anderson.

Malvern won the first two games 25-19, 25-21. Lisbon responded with two straight wins 25-16, 25-22.

In the deciding five set, the Lady Hornets prevailed 15-10.

Kelsi Hulit had 16 kills, 13 points, five blocks, 15 digs and 11 receptions; Kristi Meenan had 10 kills, seven points, 12 digs and 19 receptions; Macy Zeiger had six kills, 17 points, 20 digs and and 11 receptions; Hannah Bower had eight points, seven digs and 21 assists; Kenzie Haidet had four points and two blocks; Lauren Foster had five points, seven digs and 16 assists; and Cailin Wade had 13 digs and 12 receptions.

The girls were beaten by Hiland 25-22, 25-13, 25-21.

Meenan had four kills, four points, two blocks, six digs and 17 receptions; Hulit had 10 kills, six points, three blocks, 10 digs and seven receptions; Zeiger had three kills, seven digs and 16 receptions; Haidet had four blocks; Wade had 10 digs; Bower had 15 assists and 10 digs; and Jordan Holmes had six digs and three receptions.

The Lady Hornets will host Conotton Valley today (Aug. 31) and travel to Tusky Central on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
