Brandon Patterson had a pair of top three finishes at the 2017 Inter-Valley Conference Track and Field Championships.
Patterson finished second in the 1600 with a time of 4:46.97, and was third in the 3200 in 10:24.7.
Placing sixth were Alex Butler in the discus (107') and shot (38'2); and the 4x100 (50.87) consisting of DaVair Williams, Jakob Cox, Casey Crowl and Andrew Norton.
Finishing seventh were 4x800 (11:46.54) consisting of Cox, Braden Butcher, Tristen Crago and Sam Earl; the 4x200 (1:49.06) consisting of Jason Coblenz, Williams, Butcher and Norton; and the 4x400 (4:21.9) consisting of Ike Moser, Williams, Butcher and Coblentz.
"We had some solid efforts around the board, but we left a lot of points on the track," stated Head Coach Seth Goshorn. We had several ninth-place finishes and a few missed opportunities that I wish we could have capitalized on.
"Brandon Patterson ran extremely well. He took second in the 1600 and ran a huge personal record in the 3200.
"It was good to go against such good competition and it will help us mentally prepare as we move forward into districts."
East Canton ran away with the title with 217.5 points. it was followed by Ridgewood with 125, Garaway with 93.5, Hiland with 66, Newcomerstown with 51, Sandy Valley with 50, Malvern with 29, Strasburg with 12 and Tusky Central with 12.
Malvern will take part in the district meet at Newcomerstown High School on Tuesday and Friday, May 16 and 19.
The top four in each event will advance to the regional meet at Perry High School on May 24 and May 26.
